The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) is a joint institute of SingHealth and Duke-NUS, which aims to address current and emerging health challenges across ASEAN member states and in other Asian countries. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.

The Institute builds on the collective strengths and expertise of SingHealth and Duke-NUS Medical School faculty and leverages Duke University’s long history in global health.

Vision: To advance health and well-being in Southeast Asia and beyond

Mission: To address pressing health challenges and develop future leaders in global health through innovative solutions, programs and partnerships

Drawing on existing strengths across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre, SDGHI aims to:

    • Promote and conduct research that responds to urgent needs and priorities in neighbouring countries
    • Provide a platform for interdisciplinary global health education and training
    • Facilitate policy dialogues to strengthen health systems, access and coverage
    • Enhance the capacity of institutions in the region to improve health through robust collaborations

These initiatives provide many global health opportunities for faculty, allied health staff, medical and doctoral students as well as residents across the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.

SDGHI plans to work jointly with other institutions in Singapore in the academic, nonprofit, government and private sectors in achieving many of its goals.
